The End of 2015

This is where it gets good. Not that the year so far has been bad or anything. It has actually been one of the better years in recent memory. That’s because some great directors have turned in some pretty enjoyable films. From Matthew Vaughn with Kingsmen to F. Gary Gray with Straight Outta Compton, to Paul Feig with Spy, so far there have definitely been some good times at the movies.

But now comes the best stuff. From October on, it’s golden season at the theater. Proof of that is some of the movies that just came out in recent weeks. The Martian and Sicario. Two movies in a row that were easily two of the best so far this year. And things are just warming up.

Looking ahead, we are going to be getting a movie from Quentin Tarantino, The Hateful Eight, which looks absolutely incredible. And we are also getting a new Star Wars movie with the whole original cast reprising their roles and JJ Abrahms directing. That movie looks like it will be amazing. Abrahms is a wonderful director, and it seems like he is really going for getting the same look as the original films.

Other movies coming up over the next three months that look promising… Jobs, Spectre, Creed, and Joy (all one word titles.) And that’s not even counting the movies that will certainly be oscar front runners (Like The Danish Girl,) which we won’t really know until about December or so. There are always movies that come out of the woodwork there. But with we’ve got, even if they are just for fun, the new Bond movie, Spectre, looks promising. Jobs looks creative, with it’s three act, three new products structure, Joy is by director David O Russel and stars Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, and Robert De Niro (the directors three favorites,) and then there’s Creed, which looks good, is smart enough to bring Stallone back as Rocky, but could really go either way. The verdict is not in yet on that one.

For now, The Martian and Sicario have definitely set things off on the right foot, and I can’t wait to see what happens with this large amount of other promising movies. It’s gonna be exciting!
