REVIEW:
Anatomy of a Fall was interesting. It was a two and a half hour movie about a possible murder that we watched be studied and examined from every angle possible. The situation was that a man out of a window to his death, while the only ones at home were he and his wife. His wife then gets accused of pushing him. She is put on trial. And that’s where we get the dissection of not only the possible murder, but of these people’s lives.
The first half of the movie is about preparing for the trial and mostly consists of conversations between the wife and her lawyer. The second half is about the trail itself. And everything comes out. Everything from affairs to stolen book ideas to the accident that caused their son to become blind. It’s powerful stuff. The movie is artistic and fascinating, and the story definitely gets you invested. The only problem is, considering that the movie is about just one moment that we then spend the entirety of the film reliving and studying, the running time should be a consideration. This one is close to two and a half hours, which is to say that it’s a bit too long. Other than that, however, its a solid and compelling film.
