REVIEW:
Dumb Money was okay. It was fine. Somewhat interesting, but also kind of forgettable. Here’s the thing…this movie looked promising for two reasons. First, it’s based on a true story from just a couple of years ago, during the Pandemic, when Wall Street hedge funds shorted the video game store Game Stop, and low key stock players bought Game Stop stock, so much so that the hedge funds lost a ton of money. If we hadn’t just lived through this, it wouldn’t be that interesting s story. Kind of like the movie The Big Short.
The second reason this movie looks worthwhile is its cast. Seth Rogen and Pete Davidson together. This generations two greatest slacker movie stars. Don’t be fooled, they don’t have a single scene together. And Rogen isn’t even playing a slacker. He’s all grown up now.
