REVIEW:
A modern, clever animated take on Romeo and Juliet, here the two main characters don’t come from warring families or anything like that, but they are certainly from opposite sides of the tracks. The movie is about a world where different element people exist. That means water, fire, wind, and plants. When a flood breaks through the pipes of a fire store, the teenager who is in charge of the store for the day, Ember, must go on a mission with the inspector (Wade,) to find out what caused it, before her father’s place gets shut down. Naturally the sparks fly between them, and that leads to more problems. The movie is fun and quick paced. The story might feel familiar, but that’s okay because we are in this completely different world, playing in a brand new sandbox. It works. There is some strong humor here and lots of clever ideas, surrounding each element. For Disney / Pixar, this one is another success.
