REVIEW:
Friendship is one of the most awkward, cringy, uncomfortable movies around. And yet it’s a good deal of fun. This is the story of Craig and Austin, two neighbors who become short term friends. Craig is a bit strange. He’s set in his ways, including the company that makes all his clothes, and how he feels about hearing spoiler from Marvel movies. But despite these kind of strange things, new neighbor Austin invites him over for a drink. And they hit it off.
Things seem to be going good between the new friends until Austin invites Craig to join him and his group of friends for a night of fun at his house. That’s when a friendly boxing match turns into a very weird situation, as Craig hit Austin in the face twice and then puts soap in his mouth to act like a little kid who did something bad. If the soap in the mouth is meant to be a joke, then it’s certainly not taken that way by Austin’s friends who think Craig is nuts.
Only Craig doesn’t take the hint. He continues to approach Austin, asking to do things with him. At one point Craig even shows up at Austin’s work. Things get really weird when something unexpected happens to Craig’s wife. And as the movie goes on, it gets more and more disturbing. This is certainly not a fun or feel good movie. It’s meant to be a comedy, but is really more of a weird sort of disturbing drama. The movie is definitely interesting, the whole way through, but it’s also a very odd and unusual film, that doesn’t exactly leave you with a good taste in your mouth.
