REVIEW:
Easily the best Marvel movie since Spider Man No Way Home, this one is good, but not great. It’s better than the second Guardians film, but nowhere near as good as the first. That’s okay though, because these are great characters who we love to watch together, interacting with each other. The story here has its generic plot points (the Guardians have to go to this place to pull off this heist and get this thing, only to learn that it’s not what they needed, and now need to go somewhere else to get something else,) but there are also plenty of new ideas here. Rocket Racoon’s backstory is a major one of those. So is the relationship between Peter and a new Gamora, who is clearly not the same one from another timeline, that used to be in love with him. That story about the two of them, is probably the best of all, and handled in a very unpredictable way. The action is fun, especially an amazing tracking shot sequence in a corridor towards the end of the movie. And the humor is there. The music could be better, but after two movies of giving us perfect music, director James Gunn is allowed one foul up in that department. Other than that, the movie is pretty good, and it’s great fun just watching these likable characters together again, probably for the very last time.
