REVIEW:
Perhaps the most complicated movie in the last thirty years, other than Tenant, the difference here is that with this movie, you get the gist. You can get confused by conversations and sometimes lost in scenes, but overall you understand what is going on. That’s because despite the many storylines and menu names, this movie is pretty thrilling. It tells about four different stories at once, which are interconnected. And of course we’ve seen that formula many times before, (Robert Altman was the master of this,) but there’s something special about the way this movie does it, with its political – espionage agenda and it’s tense music that constantly keeps you on edge. Clooney plays a CIA agent in the field. Damon plays a financial adviser to an Iranian Prince doing deals with oil companies. There’s a lot of back stabbing and betrayal. It gets intense. And it’s a testament to this movie that it can be so complex and still keep the audience engaged.
