REVIEW:
The Wild Robot was a pretty fantastic movie. From its opening story, about the robot trying to help random animals in the first snd bumbling every attempt, to the real characters we meet as the actual story of the movie takes over, this one is pretty special. The movie starts with the robot being accidentally turned on, after falling out of a plane and landing in the woods. Now she’s walking around the wood, trying to assist animals with things and then find out if they’re satisfied.
Pretty soon, the robot gets herself into a situation she can’t so easily fix, when she accidentally kills the family of a newborn baby chick. She now tries it upon herself to raise the chick with the help of a fox. The three of them become a little family, and they put the chick through training, until he’s strong enough to join others like him and fly south.
Thats when the next story begins, about animals surviving the winter. And then another one about hundreds bad robots going went down to hunt our robot. The movie plays out in this way, as a bunch of short stories, and it works. It keeps things feeling fresh and quick-paced. On top of that, there’s a lot of heart in this movie. It’s easily a tearjerker that gets you feeling things. And on top of everything else, the movie looks fantastic. This is some really beautiful and creative animation. It’s definitely an enjoyable, powerful film.
