REVIEW:
A home invasion movie, this one really doesn’t differ much from other movies in the genre, which is a problem. It’s better than the Strangers, because here there is actual motive, but other than that, this one is pretty basic. The story is about a family. It’s a reunion of sorts as a father and mother welcome their adult children and the spouses of these children to their home. The dialogue is clunky and the fights that ensue between the children seem fake and forced. But pretty soon the killing starts.
The deaths are paint by the numbers simple. And there’s plenty that happens which feels totally unrealistic (sending the wife of the son to the neighbor’s house to borrow milk… why wouldn’t the son go with her at the very least? Sending out one of the daughters who can run fast to get help, when clearly there are armed killers right outside.) The only thing that saves this movie is the reveal of who the killers are and why they are there. At that point there are some decent twists and turns, but nothing to write home about. This movie is okay, but could have been a whole lot better.
