REVIEW:
Now this was a cool movie. It was a combination of They Will Kill You and the Substance, mixed with some Walking Dead. But all that sounds like it plays in familiar territory, and to some extent it does, but what makes this movie so great is its style. The way it takes its time on small moments, and shows us the practicality and logistics of everything. The movie was written and directed by Zach Creeger, who made Barbarian and Weapons, and clearly this is a guy with a vision. Like Zack Snyder when he made Dawn of the Dead and was new to the business and hungry, and out to prove himself, Creeger clearly has creativity on his side, and keeps going for it. Barbarian wasn’t great, but it was inspired. Ever since then, Creeper has found his rhythm and has been hitting it out of the park.
The first half of this movie is pretty fantastic. It shows us a courier of organs transports them to and from a hospital. Wherever they need to get delivered, he’s the man. And the opening scene that follows him in a hospital hallway as he tries to get the attention of those walking by him, is pretty hilarious. So is the moment that follows, when he’s trying to get a secretary to sign for what he just dropped off, and has to explain why he can’t go ask the doctor to do it. This guy is practical, reasonable, and funny. And he will stay that way throughout the course of the movie.
