REVIEW:
An okay gangster movie built on a very thin premise. A team of ex-cons is put together to do a job for a mob boss. And the job goes horribly wrong. The fun of the movie is with the team, and how Jimmy the Saint (Andy Garcia,) puts them all together. There’s a star studded cast here including Christopher Walken, Steve Buscemi, and Christopher Lloyd. The problem is that story-wise, everything feels repetitive. How many times is Jimmy gonna go see Chris Walken? How many times is he gonna visit each member of his team? There’s such a limited plot here that the movie has to throw in pointless other stories (a romance with Gabriel Anwar, and a friendship with call girl Fairuza Balk,) just to fill the run time. The job gone wrong story is fine, but then there’s a whole lot here that just feels like filler.
